Six employers ordered to pay MPF contributions

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 24) successfully pursued six claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $75,000 for 26 employees who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At the Tribunal's hearings today, six defendants, namely 3333 Limited trading as Top Choice Seafood and Hotpot Restaurant, Hon Kee Fresh Fruit Group Limited, Universal Investment Enterprises Limited trading as Apple Snooker Club, Pan Yi Wei formerly trading as Wanjin China-HK Trading Transportation Co., Talent Sourcing Limited trading as Talent Educational Services Co., and Wo Chun Wah trading as Wei Shun Engineering Co., did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA of $35,745.89, $12,285, $11,500.67, $10,237.5, $5,312.8 and $365 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the defendants to pay $258, $149, $80, $165, $193 and $109 respectively as the costs of the claims.
