Appointments to Deposit Protection Appeals Tribunal

     The Chief Executive has appointed the Chairman and three members to the Deposit Protection Appeals Tribunal (DPAT) for a term of three years, with effect from January 14, 2011, the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau announced today (January 14):

     The appointments, which are made in accordance with the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance (DPSO), are listed as follows:

Members

Professor Lam Kit-chun
Mrs Mabel Lui Fung Mei-yee
Ms Maria Xuereb

     Mrs Mabel Lui Fung Mei-yee is a serving member of the DPAT, while the Chairman and other members are newly appointed.

     The DPAT is established under the DPSO to review, at the request of depositors or member banks of the Deposit Protection Scheme, certain decisions or assessments made by the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board or the Monetary Authority under the DPSO.

     The appointments were gazetted today.
