Applications for aircraft pull event to close on Thursday
*********************************************************

Applications for the aircraft pull event jointly organised by the Civil Aviation Department and the aviation industry to celebrate the 100th anniversary of aviation development in Hong Kong and promote Hong Kong as an international and regional aviation hub will be closed on Thursday (December 30). Interested parties are urged to submit their applications early.

The aircraft pull will be held in a restricted area inside Hong Kong International Airport from 7am to 10am on March 17, 2011 (the event will be postponed to March 18 in the case of inclement weather). Four teams will pull four aircraft - namely a Boeing B747, two Airbus A330s and a Farman biplane replica - forward for a distance of 50 metres simultaneously. Apart from invited Legislative Council members, representatives of District Councils and the aviation industry, disciplinary forces working at the airport, outstanding youths and professional organisations, applications from the general public, airport workers and children born on March 18 (between 2001 and 2003 only) are also welcome.

Applicants must be aged 18 or above (except the children's group) and physically fit in order to join the event. The number of places for the public, airport workers and children is 50, 20 and 10 respectively. If applications received exceed the quota, places will be allocated by ballot. Selected applicants will be notified before January 15, 2011.

A briefing session will be held on January 22, 2011, while a training session will be held in late February 2011 (date to be confirmed). All selected applicants must commit to be present on the above dates.

Applications for the event can be made via the following means:
