Report on Public Consultation on Subsidising Home Ownership released
************************************************************

The Transport and Housing Bureau (THB) released the Report on Public Consultation on Subsidising Home Ownership today (October 13).

The Report consists of two parts: the main report and the appendices. The former provides a summary analysis of the views collected while the latter contains the submissions and views collected during the consultation exercise as well as the report on the focus group study conducted by the Public Policy Research Institute of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The Report can be viewed at the THB's webpage at www.thb.gov.hk. Alternatively, members of the public can get copies of the main report and inspect the appendices at 18 Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department. The main report has also been placed at all estate management offices of the Hong Kong Housing Authority and all major and district libraries of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for inspection.

The THB conducted a public consultation exercise on the issue of subsidising home ownership from May to September 17 this year. Views collected have been forwarded to the Chief Executive for his consideration.  To ensure extensive participation, the THB engaged the public and stakeholders through a variety of channels, including consultation forums and sessions, focus groups and e-engagement platforms. Members of the public were also invited to send in their views through email, facsimile or post. At the end of the consultation period, the THB had received about 980 written submissions by fax, email or post and over 5,500 views posted on the e-Forum on the THB website and the dedicated Facebook page.
