USED leads National Day delegation to Beijing

     The Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kenneth Chen, today (September 28) leads the "National Day Delegation from the Educational Sector of Hong Kong 2010" on a professional exchange to Beijing.   They will participate in various exchange activities while celebrating the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

     The 150-member delegation comprises teachers and principals of kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools who are enthusiastic in promoting education reform and national education, as well as representatives from tertiary institutions and education organisations.

     During their stay in Beijing between September 28 and October 1, they will participate in various exchange activities.

     Members will meet officials of the Ministry of Education and attend a briefing on the nation's latest economic and social developments. They will also visit local primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, a high technology agricultural zone and a motor car company.

     The delegation is a national education training cum exchange programme for the education sector which aims at deepening education workers' understanding of the Mainland situation and its latest developments in education. This in turn will help them plan for the promotion of national education in schools and strengthen the national identity of students.

     It is the fifth time the "National Day Delegation from the Educational Sector of Hong Kong" has been organised since 2006.
