The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 20) obtained an order for payment of outstanding MPF contributions of about $191,000 against an employer in the District Court.
The District Court today granted a judgment against the employer, Green Vision Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $191,362.61, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 27 employees.
Meanwhile, the MPFA successfully pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $68,000 on behalf of four employees who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At the Tribunal's hearings today, one of the defendants, Ringson (Asia) Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $22,680, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other defendant, KL Services Limited, did not appear. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $46,306.63, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded at the District Court and the Tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendant to pay costs of $930. The Tribunal ordered the two defendants to pay $165 and $251 respectively as the costs of the claims.
