About 1,700 vacancies offered at North District Recruitment and Training Expo

     The Labour Department and the Social Services, Labour and Economic Affairs Committee of North District Council will co-organise the North District Recruitment and Training Expo at Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kap Yan Directors' College, Sheung Shui, on August 20, 2010.
 
     Thirty companies and four training organisations will participate in the expo. Companies joining the expo mainly come from the retail, communication and property management industries, offering a total of about 1,700 vacancies. They will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment. Training organisations will also introduce their training courses.

     Vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as sales representative, shop assistant, building attendant, sales, telemarketer and promoter. Job seekers who want to know more about the vacancies may visit the Interactive Employment Service on the department's website (www.jobs.gov.hk).

     About 85% of the vacancies offered are full-time jobs. The majority of the vacancies offer a monthly salary ranging from $6,000 to $10,000. About 95% of these vacancies require Form 5 educational level or below. More than 60% of them are open to job seekers without relevant experience.  

     Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. The Labour Department will also conduct on-the-spot registration of job seekers.

     The expo will be held from 10.30am to 5pm at G/F and 4/F of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kap Yan Directors' College, Choi Yuen Road, Sheung Shui, New Territories. Admission is free.

     Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Youth Power Association, the expo was sponsored by North District Council and a ceremony to mark the expo's opening will be held at 11.45am.
