Following is the transcript of the meet-the-media session (English portion) by the Acting of Chief Superintendent of Police Public Relations Branch, Ms Anna Tsang Yim-sheung, on the return of statue to the organiser today (June 1):
Reporter: Is it a case of selective prosecution because similar cases can be found all over Hong Kong and people are not prosecuted ?
Ag CSP PPRB: I must stress that in all cases that we are dealing, we are impartial and we deal with the case on a case by case basis, so I do not see the point there.
ReporterˇGSo have the police back down now because you return the statue to themˇK.?
Ag CSP PPRB: I just want to point out that or repeat what Iˇ¦ve just said earlier that in fact when we are handling this request, we are basing on three main principles. First of all, we have to decide that whether the act is legal or not. And secondly we would not allow any continuation of any offence to occur. And third if the request is legal, we would try to assist and facilitate the request and thatˇ¦s why. And of course during the meeting, we have explored various options and finally based on these principles, we think that we have reached an agreement that we have followed these principles.
