Tai Po restaurant ordered to suspend business

     The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Tai Po to suspend business for 14 days for repeatedly breaching the Food Business Regulation in not storing open food properly.

     The restaurant¡]¤j¿³¿N¨ı³¿¨ı¡^at Shop No.25 D2 (Front Portion), Level 1, Phase I Jade Plaza, 3 On Chee Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (April 28) to May 11.

     "In December 2008 and last April, there were two convictions on the above-mentioned breach recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

     "A total fine of $2,700 was levied by the court and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

     He said the food premises also had two convictions in July 2007 and June 2008 for the same offence. A total fine of $2,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for five days in December last year.

     He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
