The Government announced today (April 9) the re-appointment of Mr Clement Chen Cheng-jen as the Chairman of the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund Board (PWIFB) for a term of two years with effect from April 1.
Mr Chen has been the chairman of the PWIFB since 2006.
Four incumbent members have also been reappointed for another two years. They are Mr Chan Wai-lun, Ms Lam Suk-fun, Mr Patrick Chan Kwok-wai and Dr David Wong Yau-kar.
Two new members, Mr Hung Hing-chu and Mr Mark Lin, have been appointed for a term of two years as well.
The membership of the PWIFB which took effect from April 1, 2010, is as follows:

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the appointments.
He said, ¡§I am thankful to Mr Chen for his dedication to the work of the PWIFB and am confident that under his outstanding leadership the PWIFB will continue to ensure the effective operation of the Fund in the interest of employees.¡¨
Mr Cheung also thanked the two outgoing members, Mr Cheung Pak-chi and Mr Ma Ho-fai, for their valuable contribution over the past six years.
The PWIFB, formed under the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Ordinance, is tasked mainly to administer the Fund which provides ex-gratia payments to employees whose employers have become insolvent.
