Shenzhen Wenjindu Port limited cross-boundary coach service to start on March 27
************************************************************

The Shenzhen Wenjindu Port Passenger Clearance Area has been temporarily closed since February 22 for reconstruction works.  The Government has maintained close liaison with the relevant Mainland authorities so as to minimise the inconvenience caused to the cross-boundary passengers during the period.

A government spokesman said today (March 19), "Following discussions with the relevant Mainland authorities and residents of North District, the Government has arranged for coach operators to provide limited cross-boundary service between Landmark North (Sheung Shui) and the Shenzhen Wenjindu Port to serve members of the public.  The service will commence on March 27 (Saturday) providing six southbound and six northbound coaches during the morning and evening commuting peak periods.  Appropriate clearance service will be provided to the passengers."

Cross-boundary coaches are scheduled to depart from Wenjindu for Sheung Shui at 7am, 7.30am, 8am, 7pm, 7.30pm and 8pm, and depart from Sheung Shui for Wenjindu at 7.45am, 8.15am, 8.45am, 6.15pm, 6.45pm and 7.15pm.

The fare is HK$20 per trip.  Pre-paid tickets and booking service are also available. For enquiries, passengers may contact the coach operator's hotline at 3760 0888 from 6am to 12 midnight daily.

The spokesman noted that the cross-boundary coach service is limited. Passengers intending to use the service are advised to contact the coach operators in advance to check the ticketing situation and to make use of the booking service.  The cross-boundary coach service connecting Landmark North in Sheung Shui and Sha Tau Kok remains unchanged.

Of the 400-odd private car owners permitted to use only Wenjindu Port, more than 80% have registered to use the Lok Ma Chau, Shenzhen Bay or Sha Tau Kok Control Points.
