Proposals invited for new Artist in Residence Programme
*******************************************************

The Art Promotion Office (APO) has launched a new series of the Artist in Residence Programme for the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre. Artists are invited to submit proposals to explore the creative possibilities of new media with public participation.

The Visual Arts Centre has presented more than 30 local and overseas artists in Artist in Residence Programmes since 1992 to arouse public interest in art and encourage sharing of experience between artists and the public.

With the theme "To Interact!", this year's programme aims to select two proposals to conduct artistic creation in new media with public participation. Selected artists will be invited to stay in the Visual Arts Centre for four to six months between July this year and June 2011. During their residency, free studio facilities will be provided for their artistic creation and they will also give talks, demonstrations and workshops, to share with the public their experiences and insights of artistic creation. An exhibition or performance will be organised at the Visual Arts Centre or other locations nearby at the conclusion of the project.

A briefing and site visit is scheduled for March 13 for interested parties to gain more understanding of this project and the residency location. Those interested should make an advance reservation before March 11.

Application forms can now be downloaded from the APO's website: www.lcsd.gov.hk/apo/. It will be available for collection at the Visual Arts Centre, major art and cultural institutions and universities from March 1. Applications should be delivered to the APO at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, 7A Kennedy Road, Central, before April 18.

For details of the programme, please visit the APO's website or call 2521 3008.
