The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (February 4) obtained two orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $185,000 against two employers in the District Court.
The District Court today issued judgments against the two employers, namely Fidelity Concept Development Limited trading as Royal Plaza Restaurant and Great Step Industrial Limited. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $134,584.85 and $51,132.88, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 42 and three employees of the defendants respectively.
The amount awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants each to pay costs of $930.
