The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
The Judiciary today (January 14) announced the appointment of Mr Li Kwok-wai as Magistrate. The appointment will take effect from January 15, 2010.
The appointment is made by the Chief Executive on the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.
Further judicial appointments will be announced in due course.
The biographical note of the appointee is as follows:
Mr Li Kwok-wai
Mr Li was born in Hong Kong in 1972. He obtained LL.B. and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1994 and 1995 respectively. He further obtained LL.M. from the City University of Hong Kong in 2005. He was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1996. He joined the Department of Justice as Government Counsel in 1997 and was promoted to Senior Government Counsel in 2005.
