The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 11) obtained four orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $598,000 against four employers in the District Court.
The District Court today issued judgments against four employers, namely, Climax Management Company Limited, S. K. I. Industrial Company Limited, Climax Paper Converters Limited and Fidelity Concept Development Limited trading as Royal Plaza Restaurant. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $191,783.55, $178,321.15, $114,428.59 and $113,915.76, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 21, 16, 8 and 39 employees of the defendants respectively.
The amount awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants to pay costs of $930 each.
