The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 18) obtained two orders in the District Court against two employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $228,000.
The District Court issued judgments against Vevion Hong Kong Limited and Pak Lee Engineering (HK) Company Limited. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $168,622.02 and $59,391.06, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 49 and three employees of the defendants respectively.
The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants to each pay costs of $930.
