An ex-manager of a company was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment for theft at the District Court today (December 8).
The court heard that the 52-year-old woman was found to have embezzled money from the company. The major shareholder of the company made a report to the Police in January 2007.
Intensive investigations by the Police Commercial Crime Bureau revealed that the woman had misappropriated a total of 26 million from the company between 2003 and 2006 by depositing cheques into the accounts controlled by her instead of delivering the money to the Mainland factory owned by the company.
The woman was arrested in Sha tin in March 2007 and subsequently charged with theft in May 2008.
The woman was convicted of four counts of theft and sentence was handed down today.
