Christmas e-cards to promote Hong Kong at Shanghai Expo (with photos)
********************************************************

Two Christmas e-cards celebrating the festive season and promoting Hong Kong's participation in the World Exposition Shanghai China 2010(Shanghai Expo) were released today (December 7).

The e-cards feature day and night views of the Hong Kong Pavilion and can be customised in a fun way for a more personal greeting.

Users can replace the faces of up to four cartoon characters with photos of their own faces, or those of family and friends.

The environmentally friendly e-cards can be accessed from Hong Kong's Expo website at www.hkexpo2010.gov.hk under the new Multi-media Zone menu tab.

Apart from the e-cards, the website includes a wealth of information on Hong Kong's participation in the Shanghai Expo.

For example, during the festive season, a booth promoting Hong Kong's participation in Shanghai Expo will be set up at the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo in Victoria Park from December 12, 2009, to January 4, 2010.

A "Hong Kong at Shanghai Expo" fun day will be held on Christmas Day.

On January 21, 2010, a pre-Expo Forum will be held in Hong Kong at which planning experts from Hong Kong, Shanghai and New York will discuss the merits and challenges of vertical living.

Shanghai Expo will be held from May 1 to October 31, 2010.

More than 240 countries, cities and international organisations will participate in the Expo, which is expected to attract 70 million visitors from the Mainland and worldwide.

Hong Kong's participation covers four aspects: building a stand-alone Hong Kong Pavilion; taking part in the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) exhibition; taking part in Expo Shanghai Online, and organising a range of events and activities before and during the six-month Expo period.

Under the theme "Hong Kong - A City with Unlimited Potential", the Hong Kong Pavilion has a sleek contemporary design to showcase the infinite imagination and creativity of Hong Kong and its people. The pavilion's three exhibition levels will highlight different aspects of Hong Kong's connectivity and creativity.

The theme of Hong Kong's UBPA exhibition is "Smart CardĄDSmart CityĄDSmart Life".The exhibition will showcase how Hong Kong's extensive use of smart card technology has improved the efficiency and quality of daily city life.
