Leading Mainland Chinese fashion sportswear enterprise, Xtep International Holdings Limited, announced today (November 16) the opening of the first Disney Sport flagship store at Telford Plaza, Kowloon Bay.

Xtep is primarily engaged in the design, development, manufacture, sales and marketing of sportswear under "Xtep" brand, including footwear, apparel and accessory products, targeting the youth market.  In 2006, Xtep obtained the master license of "Disney Sport" brand, which enables the company to design, develop and manufacture the Disney Sport products in the Mainland. Currently, Xtep has established a sales network with over 5,800 retail outlets ¡V including more than 5,400 Xtep brand shops and more than 400 Disney Sport brand shops ¡V covering 31 provinces and municipal cities in Mainland China.

Xtep always aims to become an international multi-brand sportswear brand operator, and that is the reason the company chose Hong Kong as its footprint to expand to overseas markets.

Xtep established two Disney Sport sales points in Tsuen Wan and Ma On Shan this July to capture further growth opportunities. The company opened a Disney Sport flagship store in Kowloon Bay, helping Xtep to position itself for even further growth into the international market.

Chairman and CEO of Xtep, Mr Ding Shui-po, said, "Our sales network covers 31 provinces and municipal cities in Mainland China, certainly the next step is to explore overseas market. Hong Kong is an irreplaceable financial centre and commercial hub, which is the key reason for us to choose to list in Hong Kong."

He continued, "One of our long-term objectives is to become an international multi-brand sportswear brand operator. We have set up an experienced global marketing team in Hong Kong. With the edge of Hong Kong's strategic geographical location and excellent global transportation network, we plan to further expand our business to emerging markets including the Middle East and Southeast Asia countries."

Attending the opening ceremony of the flagship store, Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr Simon Galpin, said, "We are excited to welcome Xtep's opening of the Disney Sport flagship store here in Hong Kong. As host to the 5th East Asian Games this year, we expect Hong Kong's retail sportswear market will benefit from the publicity and interests generated by the Games. Xtep's retail business in Hong Kong will add to the fashion sportswear options available to local customers, athletes from the Southeast Asia region as well as tourists from around the world."

He continued, "The unique relationship between Hong Kong and Mainland China enables Mainland Chinese enterprises to make the most of the Central Government's 'going out' policy by taking advantage of the business environment in Hong Kong and using it as a platform to launch themselves into the international business arena. We are seeing more and more Mainland Chinese enterprises benefiting from this formula, much like Xtep has. Invest Hong Kong's teams based in Hong Kong and Mainland China look forward to assisting Xtep with their expansion plans in and through Hong Kong."
