Transcript of STH's remarks on a bus incident in Tseung Kwan O
************************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, on a bus incident in Tseung Kwan O at a stand-up session today (November 9) (English portion):

Reporter: (Government assistance to the victims and safety measures of public buses)

Secretary for Transport and Housing: First, we are very concerned about the incident. I think there are parallel tracks going on regarding the investigation, first by the Police, and then also by the Transport Department. The Transport Department has already requested the bus company to provide an investigation report as soon as possible. As far as the help to the victims and their families are concerned, I think the Government is trying all its best to help them through the Social Welfare Department and other relevant departments. I believe that our colleagues are already there at the hospital  to help them on the spot. As regards all the safety measures, we are prepared to look at the safety measures of buses. But throughout the years, we have already introduced a lot of different measures, including the additional installations and safety devices etc. According to the result of the report, of course, we can also introduce other kinds of specific measures. But that depends on the investigation reports.
