Following is the transcript (English portion) of a media session by the Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, today (October 20) on the grade structure review on the directorate, the disciplined services and specific civilian grades:
Reporter: The salaries for the Police Force and other disciplined services ¡K¡K, are you worried that the decision will create new problems?
Secretary for the Civil Service: The Chief Executive-in-Council decided this morning to accept all the recommendations in the disciplined services GSR report. And in that report, the Disciplined Services Committee very clearly advises that each disciplined service is unique. The work undertaken by each disciplined services cannot be compared with the other disciplined services or be compared with the rest of the civil service. Therefore, each disciplined service and the grades and ranks under it must be considered on their own merits and not be artificially equalised to those salaries and conditions of service of the ranks and grades of other disciplined services.
