Man fined for illegal club operation
************************************

A man who has been operating a clubhouse with a certificate of compliance (CoC) was today (September 30) fined $2,000 for contravening the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.

The Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts heard that the Office of the Licensing Authority (OLA) of the Home Affairs Department inspected a clubhouse on Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, in April this year. During the investigation, OLA officers found the layout of the clubhouse deviated from the registered drawing, with an extra number of tables and chairs. Condition 3 of the CoC was breached. The man, being the CoC holder, was subsequently charged with contravening the Section 21(2) of the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.

A spokesman for the department said robust enforcement action would continue to be taken against illegal clubhouse operations.
