The EAG 100-day Countdown show to be broadcast on free TV channels
**********************************************************

In response to media enquiries on the East Asian Games Torch Relay, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (August 21) made the following statement:

The Torch Relay is part and parcel of the celebration activities of the 100-day countdown to the East Asian Games (EAG). The last leg of the relay and the alighting of the cauldron will be followed by the 100-day countdown show immediately which should be held indoors.

To promote the EAG, the organiser decided that the celebration activities should be broadcast on free TV channels for the public at large to watch. The TV station was appointed to produce and broadcast the event after going through relevant tendering procedures. About 600 spectators, including torch bearers, students, volunteer workers, people who made contribution to the EAG and related guests of the EAG, will attend the show.

The Torch Relay up to the last leg and the alighting of the cauldron will proceed in a solemn and dignified manner. The whole process will be open for media to report and film. The organiser will provide film footage and photos as well as live broadcast signal of the relay along the route to the media.
