Nine employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (July 22) pursued nine claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $148,000 on behalf of 29 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     Three defendants, T&L Cleaning Engineering Company Limited, Pretty Garments (HK) Limited and Mega Best Cuisine Limited trading as Supreme Hot Pot, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $38,747.12, $29,413.56 and $7,739.75, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other six defendants, Venezia Environmental Services Limited, New Generation Travel Limited, Blue Sky Enterprise Limited trading as Incontro, Ng Ka Wai trading as Jia Yao Industrial Co. formerly known as Bao Long Trading Co, L.C. Development Company Ltd and Zenithal Power Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $45,345.46, $10,796.15, $6,249.11, $3,675, $3,465 and $2,784.68, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $156, $126, $119, $176, $100, $141, $129, $80 and $125.
