CS to visit Shanghai and Chengdu

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, will leave for Shanghai on July 1 to officiate at the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition on Hong Kong's Participation in Expo 2010 Shanghai China, and attend the Hong Kong Pavilion Foundation Completion Ceremony for Expo 2010 Shanghai China on July 2.  During his stay in Shanghai, Mr Tang will also call on leaders of the Municipal Government, and meet with officials of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee and the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Co-ordination to discuss the latest progress of the preparatory work for the Shanghai Expo and Hong Kong's participation.  

     Delegation members include Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Joshua Law; Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Duncan Pescod; Director of Information Services, Mrs Betty Fung; and Acting Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Chung Ling-hoi.

     Mr Tang will head to Chengdu on July 4 to inspect the progress of some post-quake reconstruction projects funded by Hong Kong.  He will also hold a working meeting with leaders of the Sichuan Provincial Government.  Accompanying Mr Tang will be the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam; Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Joshua Law; and representatives from the relevant policy bureaux and government departments.  

     Mr Tang will return to Hong Kong on July 6. During his absence, the Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, and the Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, will be Acting Chief Secretary for Administration from July 1 to 5 and on July 6 respectively.
