EDB welcomes Third Report on Teachers' Continuing Professional Development
**************************************************

The Education Bureau, on behalf of the Advisory Committee on Teacher Education and Qualifications (ACTEQ),  will issue the Third Report on Teachers' Continuing Professional Development to schools starting from Monday (June 22).

The report reviews the progress on the implementation of teachers' continuing professional development (CPD) and sets the direction for promoting teachers' CPD in the coming years.

"It is pleasing to note that considerable progress has been made in fostering teachers' CPD culture in the education sector. The Education Bureau and the advisory committee would like to express gratitude to principals, teachers and all other education partners for their support and contributions in fostering teachers' CPD over the past few years," an Education Bureau spokesman said. "We would also like to thank ACTEQ and its Steering Committee on Teachers' CPD for monitoring the progress of the relevant work and advising on how to promote it over the years."

"To sustain a culture of teachers' CPD, the bureau endorses the advisory committee's recommendations on maintaining the present soft approach to implement teachers' CPD which emphasises the professional autonomy of schools and teachers in making plans for CPD. In the coming years, The bureau will continue to provide resources to schools to support teachers' CPD and collaborate with various parties in providing different CPD opportunities to cater for schools' and teachers' development needs for the ultimate benefits of students."

From next Monday, all primary, secondary and special schools can obtain two sets of the Third Report on Teachers' Continuing Professional Development from their respective Regional Education Office. The electronic version is also available at the advisory committee's website (http://www.acteq.hk).

Schools may contact the Education Bureau's Professional Development and Training Division on 3150 8039 for enquiries.
