The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (April 16) obtained six orders in the District Court against employers for payments of outstanding MPF contributions at about $739,400. The MPFA pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for $2,300 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by the employer.
The District Court today issued judgment against Goldenwall Engineering Limited, Fung Chung Kin trading as King Fung Engineering Company, Shing Shun (Wong's) Cooling Works Limited trading as Shing Shun Air Engineering Company, Carnival Index International Limited, Marine Resources Engineering Limited and Wong Wai Ting trading as Cheung Hing Ho. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $278,739.12, $199,500, $95,070, $63,731.60, $53,550 and $48,895.78 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 27, four, five, nine, two and five employees.
At the tribunal's hearing today, Iona Technologies China Limited, did not appear. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $2,300, being surcharges payable.
The amounts both awarded at the District Court and the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants to each pay costs of $930. The tribunal ordered the defendant to pay costs of $76.
