Prospective applicants for civil service posts at degree or professional level can apply from tomorrow (April 4) to sit for the Common Recruitment Examination and Basic Law Test (CRE and BLT) on June 6 or standalone Basic Law Test (BLT) on July 25 in Hong Kong.
A spokesman for the Civil Service Bureau said valid CRE results were required of applicants for civil service posts at degree or professional level. Persons interested in applying for civil service posts at degree or professional level in the near future may wish to consider sitting for the coming examination, to be eligible to apply for these civil service openings that might be available before another CRE is held.
For civil service jobs requiring degree or professional qualifications, candidates will need to have taken a BLT. The test result will be one of the considerations to assess the suitability of a candidate for a job.
Applicants for the coming CRE and BLT or standalone BLT should be holders of degree or professional qualifications, or university students who will have attained a degree in the 2008-09 academic year. Candidates applying to take the BLT as well as any of the CRE papers will be arranged to sit for the CRE and BLT on June 6. Those who already possess the requisite CRE or equivalent results and apply to take the BLT only will be arranged to sit for the standalone BLT on July 25.
People interested may apply from tomorrow through the on-line facilities on the Civil Service Bureau homepage www.csb.gov.hk, or using the CRE and/or BLT application form (CSB31 (3/2009)) which can be downloaded from the bureau homepage or obtained from any of the Public Enquiry Service Centres of District Offices or Job Centres of Labour Department. Applications must be made before 5pm on April 17 (Hong Kong time).
