12 employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 12) pursued 12 claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $200,000 on behalf of 39 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     Spi Marketing Limited, Polywell Resources & Supplies Company Limited and Hoi On Security Company Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $42,319.62, $14,952 and $9,429.96, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other nine defendants, Joyful Management & Security Co. Limited, Spotting Media Limited, Huang Zhiting formerly trading as Sun Wui Tung Shipping Co, Tang Tat Worldwide Logistics & Express Limited, ILDVR Digital Technology Co Ltd, Chan Kwok Hing Kelvin trading as Century 21 Hompurchase Reality Agency, Sunview Garment Limited, Top Power Development (HK) Limited and Yip Wai Ping, Li Wang Cheung & Lui Yat Lung formerly trading as Kawa I No Bata Yaki, did not appear and in their absence were ordered them to pay the MPFA $39,466.66, $39,011.03, $33,694.86, $9,187.50, $8,491.88, $8,424.56, $8,032.50, $6,146.43 and $224.98, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees¡¦ MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $256, $96, $206, $246, $176, $180, $80, $176, $60, $182, $106 and $209.

     Hoi On Security Company Limited was previously fined $8,000 at Kwun Tong Magistracy for failing to enrol an employee in an MPF scheme.
