Following is the transcript (English portion) of a media session by the Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, after attending a luncheon today (February 26):
Reporter: What kind of difficulties do you foresee in introducing this kind of electricity-powered vehicles?
Secretary for the Environment: I think we are seeing electric cars coming into maturity with more commercial production coming onstream in the coming months. I think what is in the Financial Secretary¡¦s Budget is to seize this opportunity to take advantage of the development and make Hong Kong one of the earliest cities to have electric cars running on the roads. It is to partly relieve the air pollution and also partly to lead a greener way of life in Hong Kong.
