Secondary school students display their art (with photos)

     Members of the public are invited to visit the ¡§Exhibition of Secondary School Students¡¦ Creative Visual Arts Work (2008-09)¡¨ held by the Arts Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute, Education Bureau (EDB), from today to February 14 at the EDB Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre.

     The exhibition aims to provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their creativity and artistic ability in the visual arts, and to promote communication among students, teachers and the public. This year, nearly 500 pieces of art are on display. These exhibits have been selected from about 1,200 entries submitted by 150 secondary schools.

     The artwork covers different topics and a wide range of art forms and media, such as drawing, painting, printmaking, digital art, photography, sculpture, ceramics and design. Each piece of art has an artist¡¦s statement attached to provide viewers with more information for appreciating and interpreting the work. Also on display are nearly 90 examination scripts in drawing, painting and graphic design for the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination 2008.

     Honorary adjudicators for the exhibition include the Chairman of the World Eye Organisation, Professor Dominic Lam Man-kit, and artists Ha Bik-chuen and Chung Kin-san. The champion, first runner-up and second runner-up and "excellent" and "outstanding" works were selected from the exhibits based on creativity, aesthetics, manipulation of technique and media, and communication.

     Video recordings of interviews with the adjudicators are played during the exhibition to share with visitors how art-making activities  can be enriched by daily life and art appreciation experiences.

     Admission to this exhibition is free. Details are as follows:
