The Government has made the following re-appointments and new appointments to the Management Committee of the Consumer Legal Action Fund for a term of two years with effect from tomorrow (December 6):
Professor Johannes Chan Man-mun
Mr Samuel Chan Ka-yan
Ms Anita Ma Wing-tseung
Ms Cecilia Woo Lee-wah
Dr Yu Wing-tong
Ms Connie Lau Yin-hing
Dr John Chai Yat-chiu (new appointee)
Mr Godfrey Lam Wan-ho (new appointee)
"We are grateful to Professor Chan, Mr Chan, Ms Lau, Ms Ma, Ms Woo and Dr Yu for their invaluable contribution to the management committee. We are confident that with the new members, Dr Chai and Mr Lam, the management committee will continue to manage the fund efficiently and in a manner that best serves the public's interests," a government spokesman said.
"We are also grateful to the retiring members, Dr Elizabeth Shing Shiu-ching and Ms Priscilla Wong Pui-sze for their dedicated service on the management committee during the last six years," the spokesman said.
The Consumer Legal Action Fund was established in 1994 to provide financial assistance to consumers wishing to take legal action against unscrupulous traders.
The Consumer Council is the trustee of the fund. The management committee assists the Consumer Council in managing the Fund and determining the eligibility of applications under the fund.
