A dim sum cookery training course, organised by the Super Star Group and the Anti-drug Volunteer Group and co-organised by the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau and the Action Committee Against Narcotics, began today (November 24).
The course contributes to the youth care initiative ˇ§Path Buildersˇ¨ launched in September by the Narcotics Division and the ACAN.
It provides vocational training to rehabilitating drug abusers to rebuild their self-esteem. They are also encouraged to develop their skills.
The Commissioner for Narcotics Ms Sally Wong, the Business Developments and Operations Director of Super Star Group Ms Jacqueline Ho Lai-sze, and Anti-drug Ambassador Miss Linda Chung officiated at the training course launch ceremony.
After a chefˇ¦s demonstration, the three officiating guests together prepared steamed pork dumplings. They said they hoped that the rehabilitating drug abusers would set a clear goal in life and stay away from drugs.
Ms Wong said, "I am glad that the Super Star Group has joined the ranks of the 'Path Builders' and introduced the dim sum cookery training course. I believe more organisations and corporations will follow their example and show care for our younger generation.ˇ¨
The Anti-drug Volunteer Group took part in the design of the course, gave valuable comments and liaised with drug treatment and rehabilitation organisations in recruiting the participants.
In the two-day course, chefs of the Super Star Group will teach the rehabilitating drug abusers the skills needed in making dim sum. The menu includes vegetable and pork dumplings, spring rolls and steamed pork dumplings. The training course will conclude with a dim sum design competition in which the chefs will be the adjudicators.
