The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (August 7) obtained two orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $370,000 against two employers in the District Court.
The District Court today issued judgments against two employers, namely, Fidelity Concept Development Limited trading as Royal Plaza Restaurant and Plenty Profit Holdings Limited trading as Lucky Fellow Restaurant. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $262,791.67 and $111,197.1, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 58 and 62 employees of the defendants respectively.
The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court also ordered the defendants to pay costs of $930 each.
