The following is issued on behalf of Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (July 14) obtained two orders in the District Court against two employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $71,000.
The court issued judgments against Koo Wai Kwan formerly trading as Shang Hai Hung Qiao Restaurant and Heinz Transportation Limited. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $56,630.82 and the outstanding balance of $14,989.42, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to nine and four employees of the defendants respectively.
The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees¡¦ MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court ordered the defendants to each pay costs of $930.
