Vice-President Xi Jinping, who arrived in Hong Kong today (July 6) visited Beas River in Sheung Shui this afternoon.
Beas River is the venue for the Olympic Equestrian Cross-Country test of the Eventing Competition to be held on August 11.
Accompanied by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, Mr Xi was met on arrival by the Chief Secretary Mr Henry Tang; Chairman of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Mr John Chan and Chief Executive Officer of the Equestrian Company Mr Lam Woon-kwong.
Mr Xi visited the cool-down area, which is fitted with misting fans, and also the command centre, before boarding a golf cart to tour the course and the jumps.
After Beas River, Mr Xi left for the Hong Kong Olympic Equestrian Venue at Sha Tin.
Earlier in the day, Mr Xi held a meeting with the Chief Executive at his hotel.
