CE's transcript at meet-the-media session (With photos/videos)
************************************************

Following is the transcript (English portion) of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, at a meet-the-media session in Chengdu, Sichuan last night (June 28):

Reporter: Mr Tsang, can you tell us what kind of suggestions the Sichuan Government had given regarding how Hong Kong can help?

Chief Executive: First of all, they welcomed our suggestions of support. There are three specific proposals they have made to us and asked us to consider. First of all, they thought that we could help in those townships that were severely devastated by the earthquake. In these townships, we could consider building things like schools, hospitals, elderly homes and clinics for women and children. The second area we could help is on certain particular area which have been devastated by the earthquake. We could participate in infrastructure work, for instance, roads, bridges and so on. The third area they thought that we would be interested, and indeed we were interested, is in helping the rebuilding of the Wolong panda conservation area that had been severely affected by the earthquake. These are the three specific areas which we could be considering. In the context of that and in the light of the advice given to us by the Provincial Governor and the Party Secretary, we'll be formulating our specific proposal to the Finance Committee. Hopefully, we will be able to put it to them early next week.
