Appointments to the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund Board

    The Government today (March 28) announced the re-appointment of Mr Clement Chen Cheng-jen as the Chairman of the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Fund Board (PWIFB) for two years with effect from April 1.

    Mr Chen has been appointed as chairman of the board since 2006.

    Four incumbent members have been re-appointed to serve on the board for another two years. They are Mr Ma Ho-fai, Mr Patrick Chan Kwok-wai, Mr Cheung Pak-chi and Mr Chan Wai-lun.

    Two new members have been appointed to the board from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2010. They are Dr David Wong Yau-kar and Ms Lam Suk-fun.

    The following membership of the Board will take effect from April 1:

Chairman:
Mr Clement Chen Cheng-jen

Members (representing employees):
Mr Cheung Pak-chi
Mr Chan Wai-lun
Ms Lam Suk-fun

Members (representing employers):
Mr Ma Ho-fai
Mr Patrick Chan Kwok-wai
Dr David Wong Yau-kar

Public Officers:

Assistant Commissioner for Labour (responsible for wage security matters)
Assistant Principal Legal Aid Counsel (responsible for insolvency matters)
Assistant Principal Solicitor of the Official Receiver's Office

    The PWIFB is constituted under the Protection of Wages on Insolvency Ordinance with the task of administering the Fund which provides ex-gratia payment to employees whose employers become insolvent.
