Sha Tin restaurant ordered to suspend business
**********************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Sha Tin to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at ground floor, Lot 953, DD 194, Siu Lek Yuen Village, was ordered to suspend business from today (February 4) to February 17, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In June and October last year, there were two convictions in respect of washing utensils in open space and illegal extension of food business at the said premises.

"A total fine of $2,900 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the same restaurant had two convictions in November 2006, one for washing utensils in open space and another for illegal extension of food business.

"A total fine of $1,700 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from February 22 to 28 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
