A Police spokesman today (January 29) reiterated that the laser gun remained an accurate and reliable piece of enforcement equipment, allowing the Force to continue to effectively tackle speeding, a serious road traffic offence.
¡§All officers assigned for operating laser guns must follow the manufacturer's user manual,¡¨ said the spokesman, adding that the Force would continue to use the guns on the streets of Hong Kong for road safety to benefit the society.
He stressed that the difference between the manufacturer's user manual and Police internal training notes on the use of laser gun, that is the frequency of the Scope Alignment Test, would not affect the accuracy or efficiency of the laser gun.
¡§It is our normal practice to keep the laser guns in the equipment room rather than the armoury,¡¨ he added.
