***********************************************

In response to media enquiries, a spokesman for the Department of Justice said the following today (January 15):

"The Court of First Instance granted leave today to the Secretary for Justice to commit certain individuals bound by the terms of the injunction order concerning Citizens' Radio's unlicensed broadcasting activities (including the named defendants thereon) for contempt of court proceedings.

Pursuant to the relevant rules of court, a notice of motion will have to be filed with the court within 14 days and then served on the individuals in respect of whom leave has been granted to commit them for contempt.

A date for the substantive hearing of the contempt of court proceedings had yet to be fixed."
