The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 27) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $43,000 on behalf of three employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employer.
At the tribunal's hearing today, the defendants, Ng Lut To and Lau Hoi Chau formerly trading as Yiu Hoi Construction Engineering Company and Sun Shing Construction Company Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed. The adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sum of $43,808.29, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the defendant to pay $480 as costs in respect of the claim.
