Appointments to KCRC Managing Board announced

    The Government today (November 30) announced the Chief Executive's decision on the following appointments to the Managing Board of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC):-

(a)     to appoint the holder of the office of the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury as the Chairman of KCRC; and

(b)     to appoint the respective holders of the following offices as members of the KCRC Managing Board -
(i)     Secretary for Transport and Housing;
(ii)    Permanent Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Treasury);
(iii)   Permanent Secretary for Transport and Housing (Transport);
(iv)    Director of Accounting Services; and
(v)     Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Treasury) 2.

     The appointments will take effect on the Appointed Day for the rail merger, which is Sunday (December 2).  The appointment of the incumbent KCRC Chairman and Managing Board members will expire on the same day.  

     In announcing the Chief Executive's decision on the appointment, the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng said, ˇ§We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the outgoing chairman and members, including Mr Michael Tien Puk-sun, Mr Vincent Lo Wing-sang, Mr Ng Leung-sing, Mr Patrick Blackwell Paul, Mr Abraham Shek Lai-him and Professor Richard Wong Yue-chim, for their untiring support and contributions to the KCRC Board over the past years.ˇ¨

   ˇ§Under the leadership of the board, KCRC has been providing safe and reliable railway service to the public and enabled the smooth implementation of the rail merger.ˇ¨

     Under the KCRC Ordinance (Cap.372) (as amended by the Rail Merger Ordinance), during the period when the Service Concession Agreement between the KCRC and MTR Corporation Limited is in force, the KCRC shall have a Managing Board comprising a chairman, and not less than four nor more than eight other members appointed by the Chief Executive.
