Award-winning Restaurant Chooses Hong Kong for Asian Expansion
*****************************************************

    High visitor numbers and a culture of fine dining woo one of New York・s finest Japanese restaurants.

     MEGU today (8 November) announced the grand opening of their Modern Japanese restaurant in the new Elements development in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.

     Mr Yasuhiro Nishida, president of the U.S. subsidiary of MEGU・s Japanese parent company Food Scope, Inc. said,:Hong Kong presents us with a unique opportunity to expand our presence in the region.  A sophisticated local audience is amplified by the twenty-five million tourists who visit Hong Kong each year.  This in turn, creates both a sizeable potential market for our restaurant and exposes our brand to a large global audience.;

     :No where else in Asia has this advantage.  Additionally, as our reputation rests on the quality of our organic and seasonal ingredients, Hong Kong・s seamless logistics were a major determining factor in our choice of location,;said Mr Nishida.

     :We are pleased to welcome MEGU to Hong Kong.  Hong Kong・s appetite for fine dining has made this city the culinary capital of Asia - a fact borne out by our ever increasing restaurant receipts,;said Mr Simon Galpin, Associate Director-General at Invest Hong Kong.

     :Our award-winning airport, superior infrastructure and strategic location will form the basis of MEGU・s regional expansion,;he added.

     The first MEGU restaurant opened in the heart of New York in 2004, and was quickly followed by a sister restaurant in the Trump World Tower.  The restaurant has gained an international reputation for its modern take on traditional Japanese cuisine.

     The restaurant in Hong Kong is the first MEGU launched outside New York and marks the beginning of MEGU・s global expansion plans - with restaurants in the development for London, Dubai, Miami, and Las Vegas. MEGU is owned and operated by Food Scope, Inc., a Japanese restaurant group that operates over 40 restaurants across Japan.

     Invest Hong Kong is the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government department charged with encouraging and facilitating inward investment into the city by providing the support needed to establish or expand a business presence here. For more information: www.investhk.gov.hk.
