The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 1) obtained an order in the District Court for payment of outstanding surcharges of defaulted MPF contributions at about $70,000 against an employer.
The District Court today issued a judgment against Right Profit Investment Limited trading as Hoi Tin (Asia) Harbour Restaurant. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $72,681.62, being surcharges of defaulted MPF contributions payable to 161 employees of the defendant.
The amount awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The District Court further ordered the defendant to pay costs of $930.
