Successful end to district forums on Policy Address
***************************************************

The 18th and final district forum to gauge public views on the Policy Address was held tonight (October 29) in Yuen Long. The forums have been held since mid-October and about 2,000 people have attended.

The district forums, which were organised by the 18 District Offices of the Home Affairs Department, aimed to provide a platform and engage people to express and exchange views on the Policy Address.

The forum in Yuen Long district tonight, as in other districts, was hosted by the respective District Officer, with guest panellists from various sectors to exchange views with the participants.

"We are thankful to all panellists and people who have taken part in the forums. Their active discussions on the Policy Address reflect that Hong Kong people are enthusiastic about social affairs," the Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan, said.

"Of the Policy Address initiatives, participants generally expressed views concerning livelihood, education, district facilities and district administration. All of their views will be gathered by the 18 District Offices and submitted to the Chief Executive's Office," she said.

Mrs Tan said that District Offices of the Home Affairs Department would continue to foster communication between the people and the Government through different channels and contacts, and report back to the Administration the widely held perceptions and aspirations of the community.
