Draft URA Kwun Tong Town Centre - Main Site and Yuet Wah Street Site Development Scheme Plans published

    The Town Planning Board today (October 5) announced the publication of the draft Urban Renewal Authority (URA) Kwun Tong Town Centre - Main Site Development Scheme Plan (DSP) No. S/K14S/URA1/1 and the draft URA Kwun Tong Town Centre - Yuet Wah Street Site DSP No. S/K14S/URA2/1.

     The Main Site Development Scheme Area covers about 4.63ha and is bounded by Mut Wah Street, Hip Wo Street, Kwun Tong Road and Hong Ning Road.  The scheme area is designated as "Comprehensive Development Area (1)".  The proposed comprehensive redevelopment will accommodate residential, commercial, GIC and open space uses.    

     The Yuet Wah Street Site Development Scheme Area covers about 0.43ha and is bounded by Yuet Wah Street, Hip Wo Street and Kai King Building.  The scheme area is designated as "Comprehensive Development Area (2)".  The proposed comprehensive redevelopment will accommodate medium-density residential development with the provision of GIC facilities.    

     The two Scheme Areas are planned to be developed by way of development scheme prepared under section 25 of the URA Ordinance.  The URA will be required to submit a Master Layout Plan for each of the Scheme Areas to the board for approval.

     In accordance with section 25(9) of the URA Ordinance, the two draft DSPs replace the approved Kwun Tong (South) Outline Zoning Plan in relation to the areas delineated and described in the draft DSPs.  A draft plan titled "Kwun Tong (South) Outline Zoning Plan No. S/K14S/15" showing the relevant replacements is available for public inspection concurrently with the draft DSPs.

     The draft URA Kwun Tong Town Centre - Main Site DSP No. S/K14S/URA1/1 and the draft URA Kwun Tong Town Centre - Yuet Wah Street Site DSP No. S/K14S/URA2/1 are now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin Government Offices, the Kowloon District Planning Office and the Kwun Tong District Office.

     Any person can make written representations in respect of the two draft DSPs to the secretary of the board on or before December 5.  Representations made to the board will be available for public inspection.

     Copies of the two draft DSPs are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei.  The electronic version of the DSPs can be viewed at the board's website at http://www.info.gov.hk/tpb/.
