Recruitment of Director of Broadcasting begins
**********************************************

    The open recruitment and in-service appointment exercise for the post of the Director of Broadcasting began today (October 5).

     The vacancy advertisement of the post will be in newspapers today and tomorrow, setting out the details of the requirements for potential candidates.  Applicants should be permanent Hong Kong resident and have:

(a) at least 15 years of experience at a senior level, preferably with a large public or private organisation, with strong leadership and management capabilities;

(b) a Bachelor or post-graduate degree from a Hong Kong university or equivalent;

(c) the ability to lead a local public broadcasting organisation and to manage changes arising from the evolution of public service broadcasting in Hong Kong and technological development in the broadcasting industry and market.  Qualifications and experience in broadcasting or related qualifications and experience would be an advantage; and

(d) good interpersonal and communications skills, and strong command of written and spoken English, written Chinese and spoken Cantonese.  Proficiency in Putonghua would be an advantage.

     The recruitment advertisement is also posted on the Internet at http://www.gov.hk

     The Government has also issued an internal vacancy circular to invite incumbent substantive Directorate Officers at Directorate Pay Scale Point 2 (D2) or above, who possess equivalent qualifications and experience, to apply for the post.

     The Government will set up a selection board comprising three senior permanent secretaries for the recruitment exercise.  All recruitment decisions will be made by the selection board.

     All applications should be submitted to Korn/Ferry International (HK) Ltd, the agency for this recruitment exercise, by October 26.

     The agency was appointed after the Government has invited quotations and proposals for the recruitment exercise according to established procedures. The agency has declared during the appointment process that one of its directors is the spouse of a member of the disbanded Committee of Review on Public Service Broadcasting in Hong Kong.  To avoid any possible concerns, the agency and the director concerned have given undertaking that the latter will not be involved in the entire recruitment exercise.
