Secondary Six Admission Procedure to proceed to Stage V next Monday

    On completion of Stage IV of the Secondary Six (S6) Admission Procedure today (August 11), there were 49 subvented S6 places left for central allocation by the Education Bureau (EDB). Of them, 37 are of the Science stream, six of the Arts stream and six of the Commerce stream.

     Details of the school places have been uploaded onto the website at http://www.edb.gov.hk/s6ap.

     All current year Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) participants who have got results satisfying the minimum A-level entry requirements but have not obtained an S6 place can bring along the original copies of their identification documents and their HKCEE Results Notices to apply for Central Allocation at one of the following Central Allocation Application Centres between 9 am and 3.30 pm on August 13 (Monday):

* Queen's College (120 Causeway Road, Causeway Bay)
* Kowloon Technical School (332-334 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Sham Shui Po)
* Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (Sha Tin) (Area 92, Yiu On Estate, Ma On Shan, Sha Tin)
* Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School (70 Hoi Pa Street, Tsuen Wan)
* NTHYK Yuen Long District Secondary School (123 Kau Yuk Road, Yuen Long)

     The school places will be allocated on the basis of the applicants' HKCEE results, the choices that they have made and the subject requirements of the schools chosen.

     Application results will be uploaded on to the EDB homepage (http://www.edb.gov.hk/s6ap) after 6 pm next Thursday (August 16).

     Those students who are still unable to secure an S6 place after the completion of Stage V may be able to get a place at the beginning of the new school year because some successful students may decide not to take up their places. Vacancy information will be available on the EDB homepage and at all Regional Education Offices throughout September. Applications should be made to these schools direct.

     Besides S6 school places, students can choose from a variety of sub-degree programmes to meet their needs. For course details, they can refer to the Information Portal for Accredited Self-financing Sub-degree Programmes at http://www.ipass.gov.hk or the websites of individual tertiary education institutions for publicly-funded programmes.

     As for Project Yi Jin, the Federation for Continuing Education in Tertiary Institutions (FCE) is holding an exhibition cum joint registration for full-time programmes at the Hong Kong International Trade and Exhibition Centre at Kowloon Bay today and tomorrow (August 12), and will handle immediate applications. Students who have successfully completed the programmes will be awarded a full certificate that is comparable to five passes in HKCEE, with which they can further their studies by taking courses run by not only the FCE's member institutions but also other institutions; or seek employment, including applying for civil service posts.
 
     In addition, the EDB has arranged an approved course operator to run evening senior secondary courses in designated Government school premises. Students meeting relevant requirements will be eligible for a reimbursement of 30% or 100% of the course fee. For application details, please call the Hong Kong College of Technology at 2192 8118.
