Reappointments to Quality Education Fund Steering Committee

    The Education and Manpower Bureau today (June 18) announced reappointments to the Quality Education Fund Steering Committee.

     Mr Pang Yiu-kai has been reappointed as chairman of the committee for another two years with effect from July 1.  He is currently the Chief Executive of Hongkong Land Limited and has led the committee since January, 2006

     Also reappointed as member of the committee for a further term from July 1, 2007, to January 15, 2009, is Mr Wong Kwan-yu.  Mr Wong is the Principal of Fukien Secondary School (Siu Sai Wan) and has served on the committee since January, 2003.

     "I am confident that with the above appointments, the Quality Education Fund will continue with its excellent work in the promotion of quality school education in Hong Kong," the Secretary for Education and Manpower, Professor Arthur K C Li, said.

     The Quality Education Fund was established in early 1998 with a capital of $5 billion to fund community initiatives which promote quality education in Hong Kong. The committee was set up to advise on the policies and operation of the fund.

     Since its establishment, the fund has supported 6,357 projects with total grants amounting to $3.35 billion.
